Campbell is small enough to explore on foot and central enough to reach the rest of Silicon Valley in minutes. Here is an easy two-day plan.
Saturday morning: the Los Gatos Creek Trail
Walk, run, or ride the paved Los Gatos Creek Trail south past the percolation ponds to Vasona Lake County Park and on to downtown Los Gatos. Grab coffee in Los Gatos, then head back the way you came.
Saturday afternoon: Los Gatos or Santana Row
Stay in downtown Los Gatos for boutiques and tasting rooms along North Santa Cruz Avenue and Main Street.
Or head north to Santana Row in San Jose for shopping and a patio drink, about 10 minutes from the hotel.
Saturday evening: dinner downtown
Campbell Avenue has a strong lineup of restaurants and wine bars. Reserve ahead on weekend nights. Check the Heritage Theatre calendar for a show.
Sunday morning: the Campbell Farmers' Market
The Campbell Farmers' Market runs every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., year-round, on East Campbell Avenue between Central Avenue and Third Street, with local produce, flowers, baked goods, and prepared food. Check downtowncampbell.com for the occasional closure on festival days.
Sunday afternoon: a little local history
Stop at the Ainsley House and the Campbell Historical Museum downtown to see how this former orchard town grew up.
Staying at the Carlyle Hotel
The Carlyle Hotel is a 38-room boutique hotel inspired by Queen Anne design, about a block from Highway 17 and five minutes from downtown Campbell. It is 100% family-owned and female-operated. Book direct at carlyle-hotel.com.
